This
is a great stand alone story, but those of you, who like me, have watch
the Vorkosigan family since they started will find this book an engaging
romp in true Vor fashion. A Civil Campaign follows the lead of the
Little Admiral's many military campaigns -- need I say more? I give
it a very solid 4, on a scale of 5. I would go higher but LMB keeps
getting better and I need some where to go next time.
Please, LMB, kept typing!
Now,
for those who have not had the pleasure of reading the Vorkosigan saga.
LMB has been hiding in sci-fi. For a real treat, I recommend the
family Vorkosigan. A Civil Campaign is a Catherine Coulter style
regency romp set in space on planet Barrayar. I had my sister who
hates sci-fi read this and even she laughed and then demanded to read the
rest of the series. Our hero, Miles has a hard time even getting
to his ladylove between Vor Politics, Mark’s butterbugs and the king’s
wedding plans. He does persevere, however, through an ever-widening
ring of mishaps and intrigue. LMB has a deft touch with humor,
feelings, and the misadventures of love. I highly recommend this
book!
